| Rick Hyslop Musician/Incidental Music Composer Shakespeare's Romeo & Juliet and The Tempest July 19 to September 1, 2002 York Shakespeare Festival Toronto-based composer and violinist, Rick Hyslop has an eclectic musical background. Classically trained, he has also studied with a gypsy violinist and Afghan virtuoso harmonium player Ustad Shahawali. Hailing from a musical family, Rick began studying music at a young age under his parents and performed as a singer with the Canadian Opera Company. He plays a myriad of instruments but has devoted himself primarily to the violin since 1994. Well travelled, Rick has played music all across North America and Europe in folk and world music festivals, and his compositions are inspired by diverse musical origins. Rick plays violin in the Greek-Arabic band Maza Meze which has recently recorded their third album with CBC records. Return to the 2002 Company Performers for: Romeo & Juliet - The Tempest. |
