In response to our question: How important is it to you to have access to performing arts events in your community (or region)?
"It's nice to bring friends UP from the city to showcase excellent quality theatre set in a beautiful wooded area."
"The availability of the Arts is central to the nuture and growth of the community. A broad based diversity of activities including the arts is part of the maturity of my community and region."
"I don't like to waste time travelling and I like to support local talent."
"I am an emerging artist.. Seeing theatre within my own coummunity is inspiring and connects me with artists who work all over Canada." |
In response to our question: As a public service, Resurgence Theatre Company offers performance skills and educational workshops for local schools involving some of our guest artists. How important is this to you?
"Far to often there is too much emphasis on sports in schools. Not all kids are going to grow up to be the next Gretzky. What about our next Christopher Plummer or Kate Neilligan?"
"I think it is a great opportunity for students who wish to learn about acting."
"As a past member of the Senior Youth Conservatory, and graduate of a university/college acting program, my experience with Resurgence's youth educational outreach gave me the skills and connections I am now finding extremely important as a graduate entering into the theatre community."
"While no longer having children of school age, it is very important that the educational aspects of a wide diversity of arts activities be offered to broaden the scope of learning for young people." |
In response to our question: Overall, how can we make the York Shakespeare Festival a better theatre experience for you in the future?
"Short of driving me to and from the performance and buying me dinner, there is nothing I can think of that will make the York Shakespeare Festival better for me."
"Expand! I loved the added wine and cheese nights and the small special events this year!."
"Other than controlling the weather ... there is not a whole lot that needs too much changing or improvement. As a member of the community we find it wonderful to have such a company available to us and we have brought many friends and family to see the productions."
"No more rain!!"
"Closer bathrooms, maybe a couple of close port-a-potties "
"Offer a good variety of things each year!"
