Hamlet has fascinated audiences, academics, critics and theatre practitioners since its first performance between 1600 and 1601. It is the most complete and comprehensive study of a human being in dramatic form. It's Shakespeare’s longest play and the character of Hamlet has been given the most lines in the canon. Not only is this the first Shakespeare I ever read, but it's also the
first play.

When playing Prospero, the great Canadian actor William Hutt once said to me that he could live 50 lifetimes and still be discovering Shakespeare’s wizard. This is how rich Shakespeare’s drama, characters and plays are. They are masterpieces in storytelling and, depending on the actors playing them, reveal different shadings of human nature at every performance.

This production we staged for you, is unique to the actors you see performing the play. It is an exceptional group of talent and an exceptional group of people. Let us, ciphers to this great accompt, on your imaginary forces work.

With its bare-bones staging and uncut text, this Hamlet is a back-to-basics Bard that relies on words and actors. [ Read the Martin Morrow Theatre Review, The Globe & Mail, August 12, 2010. ]
