THE DIRECTOR

Originally from White Rock, British Columbia, Ashlie Corcoran is Co-Artistic Producer of Theatre Smash for which she directed Tiny Dynamite, The Bus, Tijuana Cure, A Boy Called Newfoundland and produced Norway.Today. She was one of the 2009 Shaw Festival Intern Directors where she directed Bedtime Story. Other selected directing credits include: Short Story Long, Toronto Fringe Festival; The Secret Garden, Resurgence Theatre; Luna, Luminato Festival; Limes from Sicily, Canadian Stage’s Festival of New Ideas and Creation; The Futures Market, Wrecking Ball; Plighted Troths, Foundry Theatre; and The Play About the Baby at the Battersea Arts Centre. Ashlie also works in opera: she is a former Ensemble Studio Intern Director at the Canadian Opera Company where she has directed The Bear and Cinderella, assistant directed Tosca, Don Giovanni, Fidelio and Idomeneo, and apprentice directed the Ring Cycle, Faust, and La Traviata. She has also worked as an assistant director on Romeo et Juliette at Opera North in the UK. Ashlie has a BA (Honours) from Queen’s University and an MA in Directing from Goldsmiths College, University of London. She is a Chevening Scholar. Ashlie was also a Guest Artist at the Maxim Gorki Theater (Berlin), a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Directors’ Lab, a member of Canadian Stage’s BASH!, a participant in Nightwood Theatre’s Penelopiad Directors’ Lab and a participant in the 2010 CAEA / Magnetic North Directors’ Masterclass. Resurgence Theatre Company’s Senior Youth Theatre Conservatory is an intensive six-week training program designed to prepare students to pursue theatre at the post-secondary level and eventually a career in the performing arts. Upon successful completion of the program, each participant will be awarded two credits towards their high school diploma. This program is highly process-driven and has given us an opportunity to work on a play for young people with young people on stage.
 

CREATIVE TEAM

Linda Condy - Music Director and ComposerLINDA CONDY - Music Director and Composer

Newmarket mezzo-soprano Linda Condy is a teacher, clinician and performer. Recently, Linda performed at the Newmarket Celebrates the Arts, Songbirds for Southlake and was the featured mezzo soloist at the Blue Bridge Festival in June 2009. In April 2010, she was an adjudicator for the York Region Music Alive Festival. Linda has Bachelors and Masters Degrees in Music Performance from the University of Toronto, where she studied with Mary Morrison and Bernard Diamant. When she is not inspiring her vocal students with her love of singing, she enjoys performing classical music and music theatre. Linda is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing and the trio Divertimento3.
