2004 SEASON 2004 SENIOR YOUTH THEATRE CONSERVATORY
August 14, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21, 2004 This fantastic Canadian play for young audiences, written by the terrific team of David Craig and Robert Morgan, played for ten daytime performances at our Fairy Lake site in August. It was a magical, mythical piece - a kind of Trilogy of the Ring meets The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. It told the story of an evil magician warlord who froze the countryside, and the young warriors who must bring together the different clans (troll people, wood people, bent backs and straight backs) to overthrow the tyrant. But first they must find the Hero foretold in the legends to lead the way. Who would know that Hero would be a little girl? The students of our 2004 Senior Conservatory performed this charming and cool play under the direction of professional director Kyra Harper (with the permission of Canadian Actors' Equity Association). All the students were from schools in York Region and they continued the already strong tradition of the Conservatory. Our Conservatory is unique among training programs offered by Canadian professional theatre companies. The students, besides getting extraordinary training and mentorship from professional artists (including the members of our professional company), received two high school credits for their summer studies with us. Did you know that over 15 past students of the Senior Conservatory have gone on to get acting studies placements in top Canadian universities or theatre school programs? Thank you for coming to see the next generation of Canadian artists. David Ferry Click on the picture above to view our photo gallery. This project was made possible by:
