The STUDENTS of the 2010 Senior Youth Theatre Conservatory will be performing in The Jungle Book.

Open to students in grades 9 to 12, the Senior Youth Theatre Conservatory is an intensive program that allows up to 12 youth the opportunity to learn from professional theatre artists and perform in the stage production of The Jungle Book written by Rudyard Kipling, as part of the York Shakespeare Festival.
As the only youth theatre training program outside the school system to be recognized by the Ministry of Education, successful participants will receive both an open Grade 11 & Grade 12 Drama in the Community credit (ADC30 & ADC40) towards their secondary school diploma. Classes runs from Monday to Friday for 6 weeks.
Under the direction of a professional director, participants will rehearse at the stunning Country Day School Performing Arts Centre in King City and at the York Shakespeare Festival site at Fairy Lake Park in Newmarket, with several public performances to be scheduled in August. In addition, participants will attend theatre performances, take part in special guest workshops and be mentored by an actor in the professional acting company.
Through their participation in this program students will:
- expand their knowledge in the areas of acting, performance creation, movement, scenic & lighting design, and producing theatre;
- gain hands on experience as performers;
- learn from established artists who maintain high profile careers in the Canadian theatre and film industry; and
- develop an understanding and appreciation for theatre arts.
